David Tennant’s reign as the current Doctor Who is about to end and Matt Smith’s Doctor will take his place. By coincidence or not, there’s a new iPhone app called Dr Who which is the ebook of The Pocket Essential Dr Who by Mark Campbell. You can pick it up at the App Store for $3.99.
Who is Who? A Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey with two hearts and 13 lives? A folk hero who entertained and enthralled through dark winter evenings in front of the TV? A rebellious iconoclast who toppled corrupt dictatorships and freed the oppressed? Or a bumbling weirdo who for 26 years fought rubber monsters and homicidal dustbins? The answer: all of the above and a lot more besides. The essential companion to every era of Who, packed with facts, figures, opinion, cross-referencing, essays and, of course, lunatic time-travellers in silly scarves.
This is what the Earth would look like if it had rings around it like Saturn. It’s truly an amazing video. Just think: You look up into the sky, day or night, and you see the rings!
Monday night I took part in Sci-Fi Party Line’s podcast #40 where we discussed the old & new versions of V on ABC and The Prisoner on AMC. We also talked about Doctor Who: Waters of Mars, which will be podcast #41 from Sci-Fi Party Line.
Thanks to my friends at Sci-Fi Party Line for posting this on Twitter and bringing to my attention. It’s the first look at the new Doctor Who animated set of episodes called “Dreamland” with David Tennant playing The Doctor. He’s my favorite and I’ll be sad when he goes. Not sure if I’ll like Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor.

Robert Llewellyn, Kryten on the BBC sci-fi sitcom Red Dwarf, just announced on Twitter that Series 10 is COMING! The scripts have been commissioned and they filming won’t start until sometime in 2010. Below is his tweet:
@bobbyllew Series 10 of Red Dwarf announcement just been made at DJ 09. To clarify the scripts have been commissioned, wont be filming til 2010
This is GREAT news for all Red Dwarf fans! I’m sure more news will be coming, but probably not too soon.
Also, over at SciFi Wire, they have a post on which Doctor Who logo is cooler. I never got into the older series, but watched all of them with the logo used for Doctor #9 (Christopher Eccleston) & Doctor #10 (David Tennant). So I prefer that one.
I’m not sure if I want to see a new Doctor (Matt Smith – #11). I really live David Tennant as The Doctor. I really, really do. I will miss him. I’ll enjoy the last few episodes with him.
